Seminar 28 April - System 7 Preview - Rights & Royalties Innovations

A preview version of System 7 Universal Rights Management will be shown to the public for the first time at a seminar to be held on Friday morning, 28 April at Jaguar's Pasadena training facility. System 7 incorporates the best of Internet/client/server technology to take intellectual property rights management, contract administration and royalty accounting to a new level of elegance and efficiency. Single point contract entry for all contract types combined with the flexibility to seamlessly handle all forms of intellectual property from patents, copyrights, trademarks, websites and merchandise to film and television give this system impressive worldwide integration capabilities that support even the largest licensing enterprises.

Jaguar's FAME presentation (see above) will provide a starting point for a visionary systems discussion of the demands for innovative flexibility and granular data capture presented by evolving new delivery media. From the beginning, System 7 has been designed to capture, manage and account for industry leaders' abundant creativity as they meet and master the opportunities and challenges of the unfolding digital age. The latest insights from the System 7 Design Council meeting (to be held 12 -14 April at NBA headquarters in Secaucus, New Jersey) will be incorporated as well.

Jaguar Consulting, in conjunction with Children's Television Workshop, Discovery Communications, Hallmark Entertainment, the NBA and National Geographic Society, is in its third and final year of development. System 7 utilizes an exclusive Jaguar-developed n-tier loosely coupled object oriented framework that simply eliminates all arbitrary impediments to user efficiency. This unique framework will enable the nearly simultaneous introduction of both Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle 8i database versions. Fabulous features abound, such as the ability to re-label data fields to suit the industry terminology and/or language (i.e. French) to optimize the system for an individual installation.

Jaguar System Benefits

Jaguar News believes that periodically we should remind ourselves why we work so hard together to expand and perfect these systems. The following is intended as encouragement to companies that should seriously consider either expanding their use of Jaguar or adopt Jaguar as their new mission critical system. The following two pages show that the benefits of doing so are virtually endless. They represent the tip of the iceberg for most companies!

Operational Efficiency

  • Sales administration, servicing, business affairs and finance personnel all participate in a unified workflow with the ability to directly record their own information, print their own reports and forms, process their own transactions and do their own research. This self-service environment eliminates the redundancy, politics, inaccuracies and delays of the typical "islands of information" situation.
  • Vulnerability to the negative impact of turnover of key administrative personnel is dramatically reduced.

Increase Revenues

  • Discover hidden revenue opportunities through creative "hands on" use of Availability reports and queries. Availability viewing and printing by title, territory, customer, right, title category, genre, talent…
  • Precisely forecast second cycle exploitation opportunities and identify non-exclusive and exclusive licensing windows that have been created by package sales.
  • Monitor master licensees and agents to make certain that authorized rights are fully exploited and that subdistributor agreements do not exceed those authorized rights. Perform detailed sales analysis reporting on their activities.
  • Build confidence in the accuracy of your representations by using custom tailored Availabilities to create a report suitable for presentation to any target customer, management or business partner audience in meetings or markets.
  • Close deals faster by printing standardized Deal Memos and Long Form Contracts instantly at markets or on location.

Accelerated Decision making

  • On-line analytical and graphical queries designed for point and click use by non-experts. Within seconds managers will know everything that there is to know from both a contract and a financial perspective about a specific customer, contract, package, title, episode, territory, right, salesperson, division or participant.

Eliminate Critical Date Surprises

  • Option Tracking provides advance tickler warnings to make sure that expensive deadlines are never missed.
  • Participant Payment Schedules of any complexity and contingency are captured and appropriate parties are notified.
  • Scheduled Contract Invoices are printed automatically with unlimited links to precedent and external trigger events.

Finance Timeliness, Accuracy and Vision

  • Cash Flow Projections combine anticipated contract payments and open invoices to produce the clearest possible picture of anticipated cash receipts from the next quarter to the next decade as needed.
  • Contract Revisions are instantly and accurately reflected everywhere. With a minimum of keystrokes, automatically update invoicing, cash receipts, revenue allocation, general ledger transactions and detail revision audit history.
  • General Ledger Export completes a seamless link from sales agreement and material order to invoicing, cash receipts and revenue recognition that ensures accuracy, auditability and timeliness.

Cut Distribution Servicing Waste

  • Eliminate expensive creation of redundant materials through precise inventory control and movement history.
  • Confidence in location of valuable master elements
  • Cut time consuming and unreliable phone and email communication with finance on delivery and invoicing.

Optimum Profit Participant Relations

  • Built in cash basis revenue accounting and reporting eliminate time consuming manual data gathering and estimating.
  • Consistent administration made possible by access to rights, restrictions, deal terms, credits, payment obligations, reporting requirements.
  • Long Form Agreements are system-generated to ensure that the latest terms and conditions standards are used.
