Release 5.5/5.03 Official Release Coming Soon! This dual release marks the official ending of one era (16-bit Windows) and the dawn of another (32-bit Windows). Release 5.5 is 100% backward data and function compatible with Release 5.03, including a number of new and exciting features shared by both systems. Release 5.03 was originally known as 5.02.20, but the scope of this release and the organizational benefits of keeping the detail version numbers synchronized between Release 5.5 and 5.03 caused a change in plans. In addition, Release 5.5 adds a number of features that were not possible with Release 5.03 technology: seven new executive queries, two new graphical financial drill down queries, enhanced security and a slick new alternative sales contract entry. This is anticipated to be the last major release in the 5.0x series, with both releases anticipated for the month of May. All Jaguar 5.0x clients will be encouraged to adopt Release 5.5 by the end of August. A free copy of the PIPELINE Executive Information System will be included for all clients who upgrade during this period. PIPELINE formed the core of the presentation at the SCOREBOARD Release 5.5 seminar held 31 March in Pasadena. The most outstanding feature of this new release (shared by 5.5 and 5.03) is all new Manual Invoices functionality originally created for New Line Cinema. The following has been extracted from Specification Document #3312 as an overview to this modification: Business Process Overview A modification has been requested to enhance the manual Invoices area of ACE Revenue Accounting. The goal is to be able to generate several different types of manually created invoices, some attached to the sales contracts, with varying degrees of detail (i.e. title, territory, right). Overages, materials, audit, legal, and miscellaneous are among the desired invoice types. These invoices must be entered with any currency. Debit memos and credit memos must also be entered with the same capabilities as normal invoices. The Cash Receipts and Unapplied Cash entry programs must be modified to allow cash applications to these new types of invoices. In addition to modifying the Invoice Form, several reports in ACE Revenue Accounting will need to be adapted to reflect this new style of invoice. These including Invoice Journal, Invoice History, Cash Receipts Journal, Cash by Title Journal, Allocated Cash Journal, Customer Statements, Unapplied Cash Status, Cash Receipts Log, and Cash Summary. Note: The A/R Aging and Cash Flow reports will also have to be changed but will be addressed in separate specification documents as other issues must also be addressed at the same time. Release 5.5/5.03 is the most thoroughly tested software release in Jaguar Consulting's history. In addition to recognizing Carol Guillebeaux' hard working quality assurance team, special kudos to New Line Cinema and the NBA for their dedication to excellence. Many of the new Release 5.5 features are highlighted in the current SCOREBOARD and EAGLE sample report books, which are available upon request.
