Jaguar News - June 1999
New York Seminars - 22, 23 July
Jaguar Consulting, in cooperation with Microsoft and Novell, presents two special seminars
in New York. With an investment of just a few hours of your time, Jaguar will show you how
you can use current software technology to gain control of your licensing business, give
better service and increase your revenues.
Technology is becoming increasingly important as a driving force, rather than merely a
facilitator of the licensing business. Rapid improvements in technology and rising
customer service expectations are making present approaches to sales administration,
royalty collections and customer relationships obsolete. Jaguar will be presenting systems
that will help make your organization into an outstanding partner in all of your business
relationships.

Licensing 99 Highlights
This year's show (8-10 June) was bigger and more spectacular than ever. Licensing 99 has
now grown so large that for the first time it required the largest and best exhibit hall
that New York's Jacob Javits Center had to offer. For sheer attention getting power, the
highlight of the show was clearly the ongoing marketing war between the two rival
wrestling groups, WWF and WCW. All three days of Licensing 99 featured their major stars
offering personalized autographed glossy photos and photo opportunities. Various Jaguar
spouses and children were pleasantly surprised by this unexpected bounty!
While still secondary to the traditional properties, products and deals, the influence of
the Internet is starting to be felt among the licensing community. For example, licensors
are starting to make financially significant arrangements for the use of their
intellectual property to act as a promotional tool within third party web-sites,
particularly those oriented toward children. Licensees are looking to the Internet to
streamline their royalty reporting process. Jaguar presented its new Internet Royalty
Reporting module that enables both direct web-site data entry and Excel spreadsheet
downloading to help meet this need.
With Jaguar's attendance in its fourth year and our best location to date, this year's
show offered the best ever mix of opportunities to meet with new and old friends. In
particular, we enjoyed sharing the exhibit floor with the following Jaguar clients:
Alliance Atlantis Communications
Childrens Television Workshop
Cinar Films
Discovery Communications
Jim Henson Company
Nelvana Limited
New Line Cinema
Warner Bros.
Version 5.5 Delivered!
The following is an abridged version of Bill Gibbs, VP Client Services, 7 June
announcement to Jaguar clients:
We are happy to announce that the final quality assurance process has been completed on
Version 5.50.00. As previously announced, the software is now available to all existing
clients as a no charge software upgrade. Pre-release, live production versions of this
software have been in use at six locations for several months. Client feedback has been
very positive and the pre-release clients will likely be among the first to install the
official release software.
We created Version 5.50.00 to be the functional equivalent of Version 5.03.00 so that
after upgrading from one to the other, you can expect the same display and/or output from
any particular menu item or report. However, it is not necessary to be on 5.03.00 in order
to upgrade to 5.50.00. We can upgrade you directly from 5.02.19 to 5.50.00.
Version 5.50.00 does include some unique enhancements, particularly a spectacular new set
of queries, but the user interface is nearly identical. Exceptions include the way in
which Version 5.50.00 handles access to comment fields and some new flexibility in moving
about the menus, which will become apparent at first use. These issues and some of the
more subtle enhancements have been documented in a text file called README00.TXT that is
in the JAGUAR directory or can be found under the FAQ section of the Support
section of the website.
