Intellectual Property Solutions
Seminars - New York and California
Nothing is more important to the highly competitive intellectual
property licensing business than making it easy for your customers to do business with
you. Leading companies now see technology as the driving force of their customer and
business partner relationships, rather than merely a behind the scenes facilitator. Rapid
improvements in Internet performance and rising customer service expectations are making
present approaches to sales administration, royalty collections and customer relationships
obsolete.
Jaguar Consulting, in cooperation with Microsoft and Novell, will present two special
seminars in New York that will discuss the tools and practices necessary to ride this wave
to greater success without getting beached! The first seminar will provide information
specific to the film and television licensing industries. The second will be aimed at
other intellectual property holders, particularly publishing and merchandise licensing.
Randy Johnson, Jaguar's founder, president and chief system designer, will be the featured
presenter.
Both seminars will present Jaguar system solutions as they are in use today. Throughout
the seminar, particular emphasis will be placed on how various software functions can be
utilized to promote greater operational efficiency, customer loyalty and profitability
through enhanced relationships with copyright holders, profit participants, licensees,
agents and sales and creative staff.
The seminars will be held on the mornings of 22 and 23 July in midtown Manhattan. These
same seminars will also be held 16 and 17 September in Pasadena, California. For further
information contact Sylvia Rodriguez (626.796.1955 x204 or srodriguez@jaguartc.com) or

System 7 Design Council
System 7 combines the 14 years of experience built into Release 5.5
with the opportunities created by the Internet to take our client's performance to a new
level. The overriding goal is to make our clients more successful by doing everything
possible to make it easier for their customers and partners to do business with them.
System 7 is being created using a combination of Microsoft Visual Basic, Microsoft
Internet Information Server, Microsoft SQL Server and Seagate Crystal Reports.
Dan Hickok, Vice President New Technology, with support from the System 7 design team, has
been working on the Jaguar System 7 Requirements Document night and day for many months.
For this release, the System Summary, Functional Summary, and Functional Detail have been
extensively revised. In particular, the Functional Detail has been expanded to include a
definitive specification of System 7's data entry and processing functions.
We are extremely proud of what Dan has accomplished! He is now anxiously awaiting our
clients' feedback on his "baby." On 2 July, this final release of the Jaguar
System 7 Requirements Document was submitted for a 30 day comment period to:
Children's Television Workshop
Discovery Communications
Hallmark Entertainment
NBA
National Geographic Television
New Line Cinema
A three day meeting will be held at National Geographic Television in August to provide a
forum to answer questions and discuss the details of the requirements document in depth.
Many thanks to Susan Borke and Bonnie Enzinna at NGT for their support and effort in
putting this meeting together. Design Council members are currently being polled on their
preferences for the actual dates of the meeting.
Release 5.5 Contract Entry - Beta Testing
One of the most exciting things about the upgrade to Release 5.5's
32-bit technology is the opportunity to streamline some the most heavily used portions of
the system. These enhancements are also serving as a real world production laboratory to
test out various ideas before they are incorporated into System 7.
EAGLE and SCOREBOARD Sales Contract Entry and BATS Acquisition Contract Entry functions
are presently undergoing a complete face lift to incorporate tab-driven organization,
dynamic pick lists and numerous convenience features. This all new version of contract
entry will simultaneously make it easier for first time users to get started while making
power users more efficient than ever.
While we are itching to get it out the door into the hands of our users, alpha and beta
testing must be completed following standard procedures. Alpha testing is in its final
stages, at which time a 30 day client beta testing period will commence, first for sales
contracts and subsequently for acquisition contracts. Several Design Council members have
already volunteered to put Sales Contract Entry through its paces. Celebrated Release 5.5
beta testers, Adam Lefkowitz of the NBA and Susan Tanamli of Children's Television
Workshop will be at the front lines to make sure that no bugs survive to make it into the
final delivery as part of Release 5.50.01.
Software Modification Update
Our clients demand for customizations to fine tune the functionality
of their Jaguar systems has never been greater! All of these changes, from the minute to
the major, become part of a standard release of the system that is downloaded by all
Jaguar clients each quarter via the Internet. The resulting synergy provides our clients
with systems that both precisely match the way that they do business and keep growing and
improving as new ideas and new technologies are incorporated into the system.
