National
Geographic Scores EAGLE!
National Geographic Society has elected to expand
their Jaguar system to include EAGLE
Royalty Management. EAGLE
will be used to provide integrated contract administration, royalty
collections and finance to NGS' Licensing and NGT's Home Video
departments. NGS now joins the elite group of companies that own the
entire Jaguar product suite:
- ACE
Royalty Finance
- BATS
Acquisition & Development
- EAGLE
Royalty Management
- PIPELINE Executive Information
- SCOREBOARD
Film & TV Licensing
- SPLASH Action Management
- WRAP-UP
Materials Tracking
NGS is justly famous as the largest BATS
Acquisition & Development site in the world with more than 33,000
production and acquisition contracts under management (dating
back to American on Everest in 1965) and 1,500 new agreements each year!
In addition to the expected benefits in contract administration and
finance, a policy has been established that long form agreements may not
be signed unless they are produced by BATS,
no simple-minded word processor imitations will do! This policy has
ensured that the computer stored contract information was 100% accurate
and, more importantly, guaranteed that BATS
standard boilerplate language for each of their 42 contract types would
be used, effectively eliminating inadvertent dropping of key contract
terms and unwanted language variations.
The
many lessons learned by Jaguar at NGS will be key elements of the
upcoming 9 December Pasadena seminar, highlighted below. We would like
to thank Kerry Mysiak and Bonnie
Enzinna (pictured in that order) for their talent, dedication
and faith in leading the rapid expansion of Jaguar's service to NGS.
Departments served now include: Law, Business
and Governmental Affairs, Television Production Group, Stock Footage,
Program Enterprises Group, Post Production, and
Television, with Book Publishing,
Interactive, International Licensing and Alliance, and Merchandise
slated for 2000. Kerry and Bonnie have also played key leadership and
support roles on the System 7 Design Council, including sponsoring its
September meeting.

Seminar:
Acquisitions & Development - Film, TV, Publishing
9 December, 9:30 AM, Old Town
Pasadena, Continental Breakfast 9:00 AM
Jaguar Consulting is presenting a seminar on
Thursday, 9 December that takes a detailed look at the business
practices and information systems that are required for success in the
entertainment industry. Intellectual property exploitation opportunities
are growing explosively, with the Internet rapidly adding fuel to the
fire. While not claiming to have all of the answers, Jaguar's extensive
experience working with many of the world's leading creators and
licensors of copyrighted assets places them in a unique position to
share their current insights and understandings.
The arrival of the Internet
Entertainment Business and Digital
Media Asset Management systems are opening up fresh
opportunities for new and established entertainment companies to
profitably create, acquire and re-purpose intellectual property. A wide
variety of business models are evolving to exploit the rich potential of
this dynamic new medium. Traditional film and television contract
administration concepts such as Contract Status, Project Status,
Royalties, Participations, Rights, Restrictions, Expirations, Options,
Advances, Guarantees and Exclusivity have unique characteristics when
applied in these new business process and technical environments.
Throughout the seminar, particular emphasis will
be placed on how specific information system functions can promote efficiency,
loyalty and profitability
through enhanced relationships with talent, writers, producers,
copyright holders, profit participants, distributors, licensors and
creative staff.
This seminar will provide an opportunity to
preview Jaguar's upcoming System 7.
System 7 introduces new levels of ease of use, centralized
administration and operational adaptability to one of the most demanding
business software applications in the world: film, television,
publishing and intellectual property contract administration, rights
management and royalties.
This facility seats 32 participants. Based upon
the success of previous seminars, we suggest that you reserve the seats
that you need as early as possible. It is easy to register at www.jaguartc.com
or by contacting Sylvia
Rodriguez at 626/796-1955 x204 or srodriguez@jaguartc.com.

Holiday Schedule
- Friday 10 December - Early close for Christmas
Party: 1:30 PM EST
- Friday 24 December through Friday 31 December
Closed for Christmas Break.
As always, a number of Jaguar staff and their
friends will be viewing the famous Rose Parade from our front row seats
on the second floor of a historic (1896) building on Colorado Boulevard
in Old Town Pasadena. This year the viewing will include a New Year's
Eve celebration potluck dinner.
Happy Holidays!
